About
Biography
Qori Camargo is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. As a trans artist of Andean descent, her work largely focuses on identity on both a communal and personal level. Consisting mostly of self-portraiture, her personal work explores the journey of queerness and self-discovery from youth through adulthood, using stylized approaches to lighting, composition, and styling to connect personal experiences to communal ones. Heavily influenced by pop culture and her experience as a trans woman, Qori’s work aims to engage viewers on both superficial and deeply personal levels. Through photographs and various 2D mediums alongside performance and video, Qori’s approach to art-making is heavily influenced by both contemporary artists as well as pre-colonial art produced throughout South America. Qori received her BFA in photography from Parsons The New School For Design in May of 2017.Clients include: TIME, Gay Times, Friday by Friday, Ceremonia
